Clair de Lune

I am so lucky to have had so many amazing moments with Jacinta, but there is an exquisite moment that I never stop thinking about.

I was running late by 10 minutes. My son's were asking me to hurry up, they didn't want to miss their lessons. We pulled up outside Jacinta's house and were greeted by her scarecrows, They always put a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. The three of us got out of the car and walked across the road to her house. As we approached the front door and about to walk in as instructed, we heard Jacinta sitting at her piano and then Debussy's Clare de Lune flow out of her window. We stood still in awe, beneath the early evening sky and the smell of Autumn in the air. I felt my child's 7 1/2 year old hand in my 39 year old hand and my other 12 year old child's eyes gaze in to my eyes, no words exchanged but we understood each other perfectly well. Jacinta moved me and I knew then that we were in the presence of a rare and precious artist. Jacinta had no idea we were standing there. And when the last note had passed our ears and sailed away up to the moon my children and I opened the door into another world. And inside we were greeted by Jacinta and Dolly, 'Oh no, where have you been, you have missed your lesson!" and I said, 'Oh no Jacinta, I haven't, you were amazing.' It was like the best dream ever.

Now when a wave of raw emotion crashes upon me, because I just miss her, I put on Debussy's Clare de lune and I am transported back to that dazzling moment, where she taught me to believe.

I only managed to see Jacinta playing the piano once at the convert she had in Bury St Edmunds, she had an amazing ability to tell stories with her music and she had the entire audience captivated, thanks for the joy and happiness you gave to Emma and the boys and for teaching them the piano so well Love Bryan x
